Guest guest
I just wonder if you should eat more often, but just have smaller portions. That is what I am having to do because of the ulcer I have and if I don't, I really get into trouble at dinner time. Just watch your portions and still watch what you are eating. Lin Lhsh@... Guest guest
It is so hard! My stomach is not hungry but my brain wants more. Sometimes I feel like, " Did I do the right thing?! " I have been having problems with my eating schedule and some days I will over eat a tad bit and get sick the rest of the day. I try to prevent that and I realize at the end of the day that I forgot to eat. Definately something I need to adjust or I don't know. I am losing the weight though but these things are just so so hard!
Guest guest
Snacking is something I deal with wanting to do almost every day. I " just " keep away from snacks. Sometimes that doesn't work. I'm about 20 feet from a kitchenette at work that's full of very non- nutritious foods (something I intend to complain about too). I keep water handy and " snack " on that. I have bags of jerky and soy crisps in my car that I can snack on with my daughter on the way home from picking her up if we're hungry. Maybe someone knows some thoughts/numbers on eating more or less in groups. I tend to eat more alone I think. I might be wrong. You could also setup specific times and foods for snacking. Maybe that takes all the fun and guilt out of snacking but it works for me. I have a couple of fruits every morning for a snack and some V8 and/or those snacks mentioned above for a snack in the afternoon. Heck sometimes for desert I'll even stray and have a fat free bag of popcorn. Still I feel your pain. It's hard to not buy the stuff out of habit. Harder still to not just grab a handful or piece when offered by friends. Really a sample once in a while isn't deadly, it's only if you have a regular, habitual supply. My grandmother used to have a table with treats on it and a fridge full of ice creamS, not a big deal when she lived in GR and we lived in Muncie, IN but once we moved a few miles away it was horrible for my weight. There's a bullpen at work about 10 feet from me that houses three to four co-workers. A couple of them keep one of the file cabinets full of chips, cookies, snacks, etc. They're terribly thin people too. They tell me they're for people who stop by. They frequently have them sprawled open on a table too during the day. Gee thanks for that. Now I've got FREE crappy food on top of the kitchenette offerings. Ok I'm rambling and probably not helping much. You're doing a positive by expressing yourself here. Don't stop with the positive moves. Do other things. Get pissed if you have to. Take a walk, type another letter here (you weren't snacking while typing right), talk to someone else about your thoughts, put something else in your hands (maybe a hand gripper workout thing), put something else in your mouth like sugar free gum. I went through a box of 12 plenty packs of gum in only a month (about a pack every two days) before being approved for surgery to stop snacking and that only slowed snacking as I was still snacking on soynuts. Spend your money on other things that keep your mind busy so that you're too busy and broke to afford snacks. If you must snack at least snack on something filling and healthy to lessen the desire. Guest guest
It was not a problem. I have been experiencing the same problem so I thought that maybe what I am trying to do would help.. Guest guest
We were talking about that in support group yesterday - how much more time you will have because of the amount of time you use to dedicate to eating. Some suggestions were: Take up a new hobby Exercise - walking in a new area. Call a friend Write in a journal Give yourself a facial - manicure. Read a book. There were some married couples that use to go out to eat alot. Now when they go out to eat - the WLS patient needs less time to eat (cause they eat less) than a normal person. They said now they take walks. Jackie in CA (I love going to support group!) Mike websculpt@...> wrote: Snacking is something I deal with wanting to do almost every day.
