What did your Pre-surgery diet look like?

Good morning Everyone!

I am meeting with a nutritionist next week as a part of my pre-op testing

and requirements that need to be done before I am approved for WLS. She

told me on the phone that she would probably have me keep a diet and a sort

of journal during my time of working with her.

Did anyone else have to do this? Does anyone have an electronic version of

their food journal that they would be willing to share with me? (PRETTY

PLEASE??) :-)

I'm just trying to get an advance feel for what she might be looking for.

Thanks in advance for your feedback! This group is AWESOME!

I know that with our program in NY, they require everyone to

keep " journals " of what they eat. Now, they are getting more strict

about it because isurance companies are asking for them more and more.

If you are required to keep a journal, simply get a little steno pad

and just be honest and write down what you eat and drink. You will

not be wasting your time if it comes down to whether or not your

insurance will approve or not.

Best of luck to you

I did. I just kept an excel spreadsheet with a running total,

averages, etc. It was sort of fun in a way with all the amounts and

data in there.

I think there are free online diet journals too. I'll bet someone has

already replied with links to those.

I use www.sparkpeople.com. It is free and has a database of most

foods. The only thing I don't like is that I haven't found a really

good way to print out what I've eaten every day. Some people like

www.fitday.com but I find it much harder to use. If you need to print

it out for the dietician, then excel might be the way to go.
