Guest guest
Hi guys I just thought I would take a quick minute to drop a line. As you know I am back to the hell hole. So far I have had non of the support I was supposed to have. There is not enough time to have someone to help me so I'm working alone which means I have to do all my own lifting and pulling.Well I didn't post this to whine HA Ha. I have been used to my pants getting tight for a while now but now my skin on my head is to tight. Ha Ha Really, I wouldn't even say this to a non chiari person( they would think I was nuts) but really my skin gets so tight it hurts. It even indents were my scare is. You know were they took the bone away.I can feel my heart beat with my fingers. When this happens it also feels like I am being choked from the in side out. Kind of sufficiated inwordly. ??????????? Like wearing a shirt with the hood and arms too tight. Know what I mean? Any ideas ???? Thanks ahead of time Dar AS,ACM,DG,surg 05/30/02 --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Guest guest
Just wanted to mention...the guy that cuts my hair ( and he has had some weird " revisions " to deal with after multiple surgeries ) Has one of the newer " washing stations) You are sitting fairly upright and you head isn't tipped back much at all.... There is, sort of, a collar that goes around from behind to channel the water back into to bowl. This is really comfortable... Just wanted to mention it, as there are alternatives out there! Guest guest
Oh, just wait till you go to the hairdresser for the first time. That shampoo bowl is murder. I always just stand and face the bowl to get my shampoo. Guest guest
I have yet to have surgery, but have already discovered that the shampoo bowl is evil!!!!! (LOL) Even though the last time I was there the shampoo lady padded it for me, I still woke up at 2:30 the next morning with that dreaded killer headache (sigh)....oh well......I'm going to have a haircut Sat morning prior to leaving for my appointment with Dr. Rosner in NC next week. Send up prayers, please........driving from Al to NC with one of those headaches will not be pleasant. Guest guest
<< I have yet to have surgery, but have already discovered that the shampoo bowl is evil!!!!! (LOL) Even though the last time I was there the shampoo lady padded it for me, I still woke up at 2:30 the next morning with that dreaded killer headache (sigh).... >> Please oh please ( I wail wondering if those posts saying DON " T hyperextend your head /neck vannish into cyber limbo ) ...DON " T do this at the hairdressers or ANY other time if you can avoid it ..it can have SERIOUS consequences to those with reduced flow . A simple explanation that stuck in my brain from my neurosurgeon ...when you do hyperextend your head ..C1 is moved upward ...shoved into the chiari tonsils tips area in mild cases ..shoved hard in more severe herniations . It basically jams those delicate bits hard while also reducing the amount of room for csf flow . To go to the hairdresser ..IF yours doesn't have that modern truly cush setup Sally just discribed ...FOR goodness sake WASH YOUR HAIR at home ..ask the hairdresser for a 5 min gentle massage instead (GRINS ) it will feel like heaven :-) ..then a quick Heavy spritz with their favorite detangler or leave in conditioner or water ..and its clean safely ready to style ..wet . ( Tip here too ..if using water they can fill it with warm water not cold ..that too feels great ) . Please guys ..if your post surgery and doing well with flow problems ect ...you know the drill on staying that way within your own limmits . If your new to chiari 101 with the groups perspective shared here ..then welcome ..and please DON " T tip your head far back ..nor leave it that way long ..till your doctors have told you there isn't a flow problem or need for this precaution . My 2 cents ...( consider do you need a resin chair from kmart /or a bath bench to safely take that shower too ...mine makes ALL the differance between comfort and safety ...good storage place for the things needed at hand like soap -shampoo and conditioner ..razors / and scrbuby bubbly scratchy things too . I use a plastic organizer basket with compartments and a handle on top for easy moving! and yep you guessed right ..my yellow rubber duck collection falls right on in the tub gleefully when the water hits the bench with me to paddle around and ammuse me -tehehe , the red headed devil feller always sitting at the front of the flock ! ..LOL ) Ok ...I do have too much fun on Prednisone ..feeling better too guys ..thanks for all those well wishes . in Paradise
