Guest guest
Just found out today that I have to decide between 2 surgeons for my RNY. Both are contracted with Kaiser in Denver and are heads of their own Centers of Excellance. My dilema is one automatically sends you home with a drain in. He operates at the hospital where the rest of my doctors also belong. I have a cardiologist because of a heart valve needed to be replaced in 95. No heart disease though. Only see him once a year. The other operates out of his hospital with his team across the street. Ran into a classmate of mine who had the surgery and says go with the one who does not leave the drain in as she did great and thinks he is tops. Do any of you have any ideas on the matter? I have not talked to either one. Have read comments on Obesity Help and both get good feedback. No experience to base this important decision on. Thanks for any help. Guest guest
I would suggest meeting both & seeing which one you feel comfortable with. My surgeon doesn't always use a drain. I didn't have one. But sometimes they are necessary. Don't let that be your deciding factor. Meet them both & see which one makes you feel comfortable. Guest guest
has given you excellent advice. As she said don't let that be your deciding factor. I went home with the drain. My Doctor took it out at the one week mark. It was a pain in the neck but I just pined it either on the tummy binder or on my shirt.
