Hi,

An incentive spirometer is great for lung expansion and a super

idea....I just worry that she may be just in too much pain to begin using it

quite this soon. When we had the car wreck and I subluxed my ribs, the ER

doc rxd. one....there was no way I could do it at all. Even after a week,

pulling 500 cc was excrutiating.

God love her, it breaks my heart to hear she is so miserable.

Hi,

Well, she's not as miserable as you may think. She wanted to go to her friend's

house tonight and " hang out " !

Of course, we said no.

She doesn't know how to take care of herself. Even though she's in pain, has a

sinus infection, threw up today from the antibiotics, and slept all day from the

vicodin cough syrup, she still wants to go out.

Well, there's a teenager for you. Her dad told her in a really sweat voice -

" Honey, you need to learn how to take care of your health " . He usually just

yells at her!

Oh, teenagers!

Oh - I'll try the spirometer, but won't force it quite yet. I can see it now -

she's had bronchitis for 3 weeks, and now broken ribs - next, she'll end up with

pneumonia. I didn't even think about that possibility from broken ribs!

I appreciate knowing that. Maybe now she'll try to take it easy. I had to

scare here and tell her if she broke them more, they could puncture her lung.

That was mean of me, but it's true. I think I scared her enough to stay home

and not complain about it!
