Hi - I just recently joined this group and have been reading messages, but

not responding yet. One of the reasons is I'm 9 months pregnant (due New

Year's Day) and sitting for long periods of time at the computer isn't too

comfortable. But really IS comfy when you have FMS and are pregnant?

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia since January 1999 and on various meds

until a year ago (Jan 2001). We wanted to start trying to conceive and the

doctor suggested that I go off all my meds (especially the Vioxx) a couple

of months before. I was taking Vioxx, Ultram, Zoloft, and Ambien for FMS

and Claritin for my really bad allergies.

The first 2 trimesters were okay as far as the FMS goes. I was extremely

tired during my first trimester, but was fortunate enough to be able to take

naps while my 3 1/2-year-old was a school during the day. So that helped a

bit. My allergies and sinuses have been in terrible shape since about 2-3

months along in my pregnancy. I did get to take Zyrtec during the 2nd

trimester but it really didn't help. Since about 20 weeks into my pregnancy

I was able to take Ativan for sleeping problems (I have been under the care

of a specialist dealing in depression and post partum mood disorders since

I've also been diagnosed with depression since 1996). The ativan helped

tremendously! I've had two ultrasounds (one at 20 weeks and the other at 32

weeks) and the baby is perfectly healthy.

The FMS pain has really come back with a vengeance though these past couple

of weeks. My husband has been such a great source of support- helping with

the cooking, cleaning (even hired a cleaning service to come in every 2

weeks to help out), etc. He normally travels Mon-Thurs but since the baby

is due any day now, he's been in town since mid-December and will be working

in town for the next month or more.

So that's my own experience with FMS and pregnancy. All in all it's been a

tolerable, happy experience. Like I said, the past couple of weeks have

been bad. Hopefully this little guy will make his appearance soon and I can

get back to feeling better.

Best of luck to you. I hope some of my info has helped.

diagnosis. I am currently dealing with the issue of pregnancy. My husband is

finally ready to have another child but is very worried about how my health

would be. We got the go ahead from the doctor but he is still not

convinced!! My husband is very supportive so I guess I am one of the lucky

ones!! I would love to hear from people who are either pregnant now or have

been since being dignosed.

Most women with Fibro who get pregnant experience a lessoning of their

symptoms. It has something to do with the increased hormones.

Sincerely,

Wieser "
