Hi Jill,

I would love to hear one of those #$% " " ?=(&%*^ (loads of generic

swearing, he-he) doctors tell that to a professional soccer player,

basketball player, (Am.) football player, alpinist etc., when they

get an injury or two... It annoys me so bad sometimes when you hear

one of those (multi-millionaires already) athletes have the hugest

pity-party ever over a torn meniscus or ACL... How their life is

totally ruined, they will never be happy again etc. Well, I should be

fair, I guess that the media blow their stories out of proportion

too, but anyway... You get my drift, I am sure... None of these

doctors would EVER talk like that to a top athlete when they come in

with one of the injuries that happens to EDSers all the time. They

would never minimize the pain involved in them. Most of us just live

with the injuries we get, and go on with our lives as best we can. If

an EDSer goes to the ER, he/she is often mistrusted. It is so insane

sometimes. As e.g. one of the regulars told one time, where the

doctors wouldn't believe her, even if her jaw was totally out of

joint and it showed on X-rays. Or as one EDSer here experienced

several times with an ER surgeon here, she came in with her scapula

laying under her arm, and the idiot told her it was all in her head.

Well, not just him, but several doctors. No thanks to them she had

surgery a couple of years ago, and has been fine ever since....

It is just so totally unbeliveable, it really blows my mind. Somebody

should make a huge TV story out of the stories of some EDSers, and

show how people with EDS is treated so many places...

hugs,

Aase Marit :)

>repeated dislocations and subluxations, and when we are not doing that, we

>are spasming muscles trying to keep things in place. Sounds painless to

>me.....

....if better communication or patient/physician

cmmunication/relationship can be increased.

I still prefer the " communication motivation " of the old story about

the attractive young lady getting settled into the dentist's chair,

then calming reaching down, gently grasping the dentist in a mannger

sure to get his attention, and sweetly saying " Now, we aren't going

to hurt each other, are we? "
