Guest guest
I've been taking an antioxidant *enzyme* product (AOX/PLX) that boosts the body's store of glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismustase, catalase and methionine reductase. I do not understand how these antioxidant enzymes differ, if at all, from antioxidants, and if I should stop taking it because the glutathione peroxidase might be mobilizing mercury. Does anyone know if glutathione peroxidase mobilizes mercury the way glutathione does? FWIW, the manufacturer claims that the methionine reductase is especially effective at removing the hydroxyl radicals associated with mercury toxicity. Also, I've been using this product with my dog that has bone/disk problems, and my brother's been using it with his dog that has spondylosis for several years now, because it's quite effective at reducing inflammation. We both feel it's really helped our pets in that regard, and I noticed that it also makes my dog's coat very soft (not sure exactly WHY though.) The product is gluten-free wheat sprout extract: http://www.biovetinternational.com/ (click on " AOX/PLX " ). Suze
Guest guest
The enzymes are not themselves antioxidants, they are catalysts that facilitate the reaction of the antioxidants with the problem molecules. Each one is specific to one reaction. The enzymes generally aren't going to cause mobilixation problems.
