Guest guest Posted May 9, 2004 Report Share Posted May 9, 2004 Just thought I'd put a "plug" in here aimed at anyone who might be going to the program in NY tomorrow for World Lupus Day. If you are going and have the opportunity to introduce yourself to Maureen Pratt, do so. Our local Lupus Foundation had a seminar yesterday where she was one of 4 speakers. Her talk was very practical , based on first hand experience, and she is very personable. We had a small group (about 35-40 or so) and I was able to go up and speak with her afterwards - she said she had been hoping to meet some of the on-line Lupies voices so introduce yourself to her if you hear her speak! We talked briefly about this group and not only how useful it is to have the combination of knowledgeable resources and a "venting place" as well as a general conversation place is. We also talked about how useful 's research was and how well others have jumped in more often to continue the information flow since her death. I was quite surprised that a couple of people listening to us were completely unaware of either on-line or face-to-face support groups.
