Hi all,

As suggested, I will wait until after the holidays are over and post again

asking for suggestions for doctors. Thank you to all of you for all your

responses.

I think one of the problems we (those with fibro and/or CFS) face is that we

desperately want to get the word out to doctors and be respected and

adequately treated. But the pain and fatigue that accompanies these

illnesses prevents us from being the activists we need to be. I know if I

spend a day cleaning the house, washing clothes, going to the grocery store,

I'm out of commission for the next 3-4 days, sometimes a week. Then, it's

time to do it again. And after hearing some of your stories, I feel lucky

that I can do that much. So, when and where do we get the energy to make

ourselves heard if we can barely cope with our day-to-day lives?

I know I have to find a doctor, and if the only Texas doctors are in San

, that's where I will go. But I also know that just the trip down

there will put me in bed for a couple of days. The energy it takes to

" doctor shop " is unbearable sometimes. So, any names, or places to start

would really help. I have a couple of degrees from the Health Sciences

Center there and lived there for a while, so at least I can get around.

To the member of the group who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I know

the diagnosis can be overwhelming at first. Particularly when it is added to

other diagnoses like fibromyalgia, which is hard enough to cope with by

itself. I know for me, after a little while, it became almost second nature

to check my blood sugar, adjust my insulin based on what I was going to eat

and the exercise I knew I would get. And they have great new meds now, so a

lot of people don't have to take insulin. Most of these new meds interacted

with other meds I was taking for other things, which is why I'm still taking

insulin. But that doesn't mean they won't work for you. If you can deal

with having fibro, you can deal with diabetes. Sounds like there are a lot

of people on this list who are willing to help and provide support, including

myself. Hang in there.

Thanks so much to everyone.
