Guest guest
On Tuesday I woke up with a headache - my eyes were burning - very sensitive to light and my ears were stuffy - like I was underwater. I wanted to do some acupressure but because we were so busy I didn't have a quiet moment until after the kids went to bed - it was about that time that my headache evaporated. (My headaches do eventually just disappear without any apparent cause) Since I had planned to do the polarity/acupressure to relieve the headache - I decided to go ahead and do it anyway - for practice. I did the neck release that Mike has posted and I also did all the tmj/sinus points listed in Gach. I felt the energy different this time. Usually I feel energy swell up my arms like a wave - it 'fills' my head and makes my nose itch. Well, this time I felt an initial surge, but not as strong as usual. However, as I held the points I felt the energy pulsing in a circular fashion. I could feel it come into my hands and then go out and I could even feel where it was when it wasn't in my hands. It did this in a fairly steady rhythimic way. Sometimes the points in each hand where in synch - other times they weren't, but I continued to hold my hands on the points and eventually they were in synch. Like I said I did this mostly for practice and didn't feel any changes within my body afterward. However, the next day my neck was sore - like I'd been lifing weights - that lactic acid burn. Today (Friday) those spots are still sore - they weren't sore before I did the release. The muscles in the back part of my neck have not been tight like they usually are. My current thought is that the 'neck release' relaxed many of the deep neck muscles and that the sore feeling was actually the toxins leaving and oxygen getting into the muscles. I've had this experience before when tight muscles are relaxed. I also believe that relaxing the deep muscles has revealed trigger points in the more superficial muscles of my neck. I've read that sometimes muscles can get so sore and tight that they give up sending pain messages - so to me it makes sense that if they relax a bit they can send pain messages again. I'm going to do the 'neck release' again tonight and see what happens. I just checked and my scalene trigger points are there - and it is much easier to get a refered pain than usual. Hmmmm. On another occasion, I had a slight cold that caused my sinuses to become painful. I did the Gach acupressure. When I do acupressure I usually keep my hands relaxed and let them move if they want to - well while I was holding Third Eye, my hand began to vibrate very quickly and eventually put pressure on my skin and pushed up - I decided it was myofacial release. It helped quite a bit. I then did my some of the other points and found that I wanted to pull the skin on my lower jaw away from my ear - again I believe it was myofacial. I did a shoulder release on a friend the other day (not EDS) and after the initial energy surge I didn't feel anything. However, when I was done my friend said she could feel a tingling down her arm. I wasn't putting enough pressure on it to be pressing on a nerve or anything, so it must have been energy.
