I have no idea what kind of bats they are I lived in Austin, Texas before moving overseas, and they have a colony of a million+ bats that lives during the summer under one of the main bridges. It is quite impressive as the sun goes down and they come pouring out in a big, black cloud. One restaurant has a balcony that looks out towards the river and it's great to get a seat there as they go, plus they come swooping over the tables, eating the mosquitoes, etc that are buzzing in the electric lights. Not for the squeamish That's about the only thing (other than sun) that I miss about Texas...
