Well, it's not truly horizontal. I'd say it goes upwards from the

side of my buttock to the back at about a 30 degree angle. It seems

almost horizontal when I'm in a sitting position, though.

After viewing those gory slides, and seeing the table, I'm kind of

glad I wasn't awake for any of that... I don't know what sort of

table I was on, as I was still on my bed in the theatre when they put

me under, and I slept through the whole recovery room time, waking up

about six hours after the scheduled surgery time, back in my bed in my

room. My surgery was in the late afternoon, and I hadn't slept much

the night before, because it was so noisy on that floor. Every time

someone rang for the nurse, it made a loud noise all over the place.

After seeing the slides, I now have a better idea of why there

were so many people in the operating theatre. And why there are so

many expensive instruments involved in minimally invasive hip surgery.
