Very often you will see their droppings (small black pellets). They tend to

eat stuff - fatty foods or sweet foods - or nibble at things (quite often

cabling !!). So you might come downstairs and see half an eaten fruit, for

example. That happened to me when we had mice in our last house, and I cam

back into the kitchen to find a big round bit taken out of a pair - and I

accused DS1 of doing it !!

In Oz they have these creatures called roof rats, which usually live in the

roof, but occasionally come down. We had roof rats in our rental before

Xmas, and my sister had one that came downstairs. She called in Rentokil,

who have put down bait boxes etc.
