My son Gabe was born o 12/28/03 with left clubfoot with moderate severity.

We started the serial casting and manipulation at 8 days old with our Dr who

is trained in the Ponsetti Method. We had our heel cord tenotomy in the the

middle of April. Three weeks ago we got our first Denis Browne bar and

shoes. My son absolutely hated this. A week later we found out that the

shoes fit poorly and I ended up going to another orthototist to get fitted.

He ended with up a shoe 3 x smaller on his left foot! unfortunately he was

even more miserable with his new brace. He fought it constantly and he

developed a blister on his left heel despite the extra padding. I was

instructed by the dr to leave brace off for a week and perform the french

method in the meantime. We went back to the dr this week and his heel still

hasn't healed so he said to continue the french method for two more weeks so

the the heel can heal properly (it had developed an ulcerated area on it. I

have been constantly bending and stretching his foot and it actually is more

limber than ever, but I am so nervous about him not being in his brace for

so long. I know the heel has to heal or it could get worse. I have talked

frequently to the orthototist and he is getting a narrow heel shoe for when

Gabe can start wearing his brace again. I fear regression in his foot. Has

anyone else had this much trouble?
