If you do the DDI test as recommended on this forum, it will give you good info, altho many times the mercury tests LOW but there is actually mercury in his body " hiding " . This page has info on that, including how to calculate if he might have " hiding " mercury http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html Dana
Guest guest
The hair test is a good non-invasive test to start with. The preferred test is the Doctor's Data Inc. " Hair Elements " test and not the " toxic elements " one. Andy has developed counting rules for the " Hair Elements " that you can use to help determine where things are. ( http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html#counting_rules ) I found a lot of information at the following URL: http://www.autism.com/ari/ - At the bottom of the page you should find the heading for " Impaired Metal Excretion " -- Amy S. Holmes, M.D. Click that for a video presentation that Dr. Holmes presented in 2002. And also: http://www.nomercury.org/media/haley/haley_files/default.htm - Video and slide of " Mercury - What is its role in Autism and Alzheimer's Disease? " by: Dr. Boyd Haley. Both of these links take a minute or two to load up. [ ] Mecury testing My son was recently diagnosed with autism. He is verbal, but he is three and 1/2 and has the vocabulary of 20 month old. I am going to get him tested for mercury by hair testing. If this doesn't show any, can I take that as an absoulute positive or is there further testing that I can persue? =======================================================

As others have commented, the counting rules (for impaired mineral transport) can be used to look for the RESULTS of mercury poisoning, since mercury often doesn't show up on hair tests. However, if this results in the finding that your child has normal mineral transport, that is NOT absolute. Another test you could do is the fractionated urine porphyrins test. I think this one is a little more definitive, BUT it only tells you that the person is metal toxic, and not which metal. (It does not narrow it down to " mercury " ). Info on this test: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ANDY_INDEX.html Look for the section " determining mercury toxicity: fractionated urine porphyrins test " . good wishes, Moria
