Guest guest
Hello All, Well, I just celebrated 2 weeks post surgery. What a difference! I am so happy that I did the necessary pre-surgery research that led me to find out about resurfacing. Six months ago, I was scheduled to do a THR, and now I cannot believe what a narrow escape I made! I was in the hospital next to a guy who had just had a revision of his THR, and he was in major pain. I met him there, and left him there. At 2 weeks post surgery, I have been diligently doing my PT exercises with my PT's supervision. I was in the hospital only 3 days; by the 2nd day, I graduated from the walker to the crutches. After 10 days I graduated from 2 crutches to just one. I am now looking for a cane to use, because my PT recommends that I move on now. I already have more flexibility and less pain in the hip than I had pre-surgery. Of course, I have some annoying pain in my butt, and quads, but everyone tells me that will go away soon. The 7 inch scar in my butt won't, but it's a small price to pay. (disclaimer - i am in my early 30's, so please keep that in mind if you want to compare your recovery speed to mine). Thanks to all who participate on the surface hippy board for being a wealth of information that made me less nervous about it. And thanks to that angel on the THR group board that recommended I look into resurfacing when I posted about my situation. Thanks to Dr. Feldman who did a wonderful job. For any of you in the tri-state area looking to do this surgery, go with him. He may not have done as many as Dr Gross, but my experience with him has been good. I saw my x- rays post surgery and they looked great. Everybody I know has been surprised at how well, and stable I can walk already. It's a miracle!!!
