Guest guest
- don't get a gaurd from the dentist - they are $$$ and from everything I've read they don't work anyway - doing the work to get the gaurd can aggrevate the problem. The best bet is to do the accupressure that Mike suggested. I'm not sure how you feel about chiros - but if you can find a good one who really cares they can be wonderful! My daughters' Orthodontist who checked out Rebekah's TMJ said not to get one of those soft jaw gaurd because they actually encourage biting down and tooth grinding - which contributes to the TMJ. Two books I recommend getting are Taking Control of TMJ (can't remember author) and also Clair Davies " The Trigger POint Therapy Workbook " - he has a good section on how to work the muscles of the jaw which could be responsible for pulling those delicate TMjoints out of place. In the meantime - no ice chomping or gum chewing :-) Yes, I am horribly opinionated and of course you don't have to take my advice, but I did HAVE to give it. Good Luck with it all
