Guest guest
Hi, Melody! Like Carla who responded earlier to your post, my curiosity was piqued by the mention of your " slowly progressing " : post-UAE orgasm difficulties. Like Carla, for me, it's the " progressive loss " part of your story that has me puzzled. I can't seem to ever remember anyone else describing the onset of difficulties connected with UAE in this way. And when an expert like Carla (who's probably heard more sexual dysfunction patient stories than all of our gynos, combined!!!!!!!!) expresses curiosity about this part of your story--I'd really stop and reassess your condition. And question your presumptions about the cause of the dysfunction. Not to say that UAE isn't a the definite cause of the sexual effect. I really don't know, for certain. But I think it's important to examine other possibilities to account for the change. for instance, as Carla mentioned, hormonal changes. If my memory serves me correctly, didn't you ALSO contract Guillain-Barre Syndrome last year after (or just before) your UAE ? I don't know how severely you were affected, and how much of your body was paralyzed by this terrible syndrome, but it may factor into the big orgasm equation. And contribute to your sexual problems, even now that you are recovered. Actually, there are a whole myriad of medical possibilities to consider--including insidious and often SILENT contributing medical conditions like diabetes. And a large number of medications--like some of the antidepressants. I don't say this to alarm you. Just to alert you that there might--just might-- be other underlying causes to explore--and, if possible, to FIX. Melody, if I were you, I would discuss this with your doctor to make sure you aren't missing anything. Don't assume this is UAE related until other possible causes are ruled out. Good Luck to you! -Roma
Guest guest
Hi Roma! Long time no hear! Good thoughts! I had not thought about the Guillain Barre affecting that at all! Could be a possibility! I have recoverd about 95% now and working full time and pretty back to my normal. I am not diabetic or on any anti-depressants(guess I really should be LOL)....I have always been highly responsive and easily orgasmed and never needed forplay and actually could think my self into an orgasm...believe it or not! NOW, after much stimulation....I only get a little hardly satisfying orgasm! I have noticed my clitoris has shrank from previous size. So I only associated this lack of response to the closest thing that could have caused it and it seem to me to be the UAE I had 5/22/02. Since my other nervous system responses are back to 'normal' and this has actually worsened... I only can assume that was the cause. I am not on hormones anymore. I only took progesterone anyway. I am going to be worked up for tetesterone level soon anyway and will see if I should go back on progesterone and perhaps tetesterone then too. I rather not be on any meds if I can avoid it. I do take procardia XL & Lotesin for hypertension I never got rid of since my Guillain Barre experience and occasional allergy meds. But honestly, it has been a puzzle to me to loose sensation so fast from previous to UAE so I can only contribute it to that.
