Guest guest
So again I was referred elsewhere, because this oral surgeon didn't have a hyperbaric chamber, which he feels will be necessary, because of the possible necessity of bone grafts. Not something any other dentist has even referred to. I've had a LOT of work done over the years and none of this, or my EDS-shaped roots and teeth, bothered any of my dentists PRE-diagnosis, they just did the work, and I healed perfectly fine. The surgeon today was going to refer me to the head of oral surgery at one of the expensive private hospitals/schools...He also told me I shouldn't haave anyone other than a surgeon do my extractions, it's too dangerous... -------------- It ALL has to do with their perception of risk in a litigous society - not any risk to your health - risk to their pocketbook if you should choose to file a malpractice suit because they failed to prescribe the most prudent care under your perceived circumstances. Pre-diagnosis, you presented the same risk for complications as the general population. Right or wrong, the perception is that you represent a much greater risk for complications. Legal prudence dictates that the greater risk in your case requires their following the most conservative possible approach. I read an article just last week about doctors ordering multiple x- rays, MRI's and Cat scans, and then going for hospitalization and surgery as a conservative approach with the primary reason being to minimize their risk of malpractice suits. One doctor quoted in the article said " I am ordering 3-4 times the number of MRI's and Cats as I used to, just to protect myself legally. Guest guest
Oh gosh you poor thing, it is awful to be pushed from pillar to post like that. I'm not surprised you are feeling so emotionally and physically drained right now. I wish I could say or do something to make it easier or better for you. Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers though and I'm always here with an endless supply of virtual hugs! Love....Jo xx
