I do this too, Bonnie, but I usually do it when I/we travel to protect us. I guess I never considered it as " being grounded " . During my Therapeutic Touch training, we were also taught to feel as though we had somewhat of a " protective shield " around us, with a period of, I would call it, complete relaxation beforehand. The relaxation part is what I personally, would refer to as getting myself " centered " / " grounded " . And then after " wiping " the pain/problem away from the client, we actually " shook " our hands, as though we were shaking off any pain/problem that was " removed " from the client, so that it didn't, so to speak, " stick to us " . I think basically, it's all pretty much the same thing, just done in different manners & given different terminology. but all ultimately for the same purpose: To assist in removing any pain/problem the individual is/was experiencing. WOW, is this going to one energy filled conference, or what? C Ya All in Buffalo!
Guest guest
Mike I love the rock in the stream thought. And I can't wait for July, I'm practically nutso. Gosh, I canceleld the ankle fusion (I'll be OK, it can wait until afterward). As for 2005, I'm outta control. I do know that doing stuff like this is absolutely vital for some practitioners to avoid energetic drains. Like I said earlier, I personally don't have a problem with it and it has never been an issue for me. On the other hand, I have also been told by several people that I have a very strong personal energy field and it is a distinct possibility that my own field provides that " protection " automatically for me where someone else with a weaker field needs to do something to bolster it. And you are right, it is all the same thing, just different names with variations of techniques, but all for the same purposes. Energy filled conference? Considering what I have on my slate in the way of classes through the end of this year and the first half of next year ... just you wait until 2005! And I am not really joking on that point. My personal " energetic development " started less than two years ago, summer of 2002. I can sit here right now and look back at how it has gone, how the various classes as an example have each in succession ratcheted it all up for me. I can then sit here and project forward, thinking about the classes that I currently have scheduled. I have no idea where this path will ultimately take me or if the rate of change is going to slow down, stabilize, or accelerate. The only thing I know is that, whatever it is that I am capable of doing today, I expect to be capable of doing even more a year from now. Don't have a clue what, just more and different. I try not to think about it too often because thinking about it sometimes still scares the bejabbers out of me.
Guest guest
Lana - re Grounding and Centering " The big issue is whether you are able to adequately ground and center yourself while working. " Mike, what exactly do you mean by this, and how do you go about it? ~~~~~~~~ One thing I was taught when I went thru my Reiki training is to create a protective " bubble " around yourself so you don't recieve bad energy/vibes/etc from the outside..... Whenever I work on someone I envision myself with this bubble around me - my " white light bubble " is how I imagine it.

OK, DUH, I should have been able to figure this out - I've done enough reading on this type of thing...but for some reason, it just didn't connect for me that way. Thanks Mike!!! Guest guest
I do this too, Bonnie, but I usually do it when I/we travel to protect us. I guess I never considered it as " being grounded " . ----------- One of my (better) massage school teachers (and the one who first seriously introduced me to Reiki) does the same thing. And speaking of Reiki, it is one of the techniques I use myself when I feel the need for whatever reason to REALLY go within. I don't use Reiki much as an actual treatment modality but I frequently use it for my own self centering and grounding. I guess in a way I am doing a combination when I do. I do know, however, that when I do it, I feel an immediate shift internally, much like those self-hypnosis word triggers.
