Guest guest Posted November 28, 2004 Report Share Posted November 28, 2004 I would guess lack of exercise in the abdominal area & also candida & eating/mixing the wrong foods & drinks. Also not breathing correctly. Hormonal imbalance, etc. Those would be the most important things needed ongoingly to avoid or reduce Buddah Belly. And that's based on my past extensive experience. For myself, always having had a propensity toward gaining weight mostly on my waist & in my abdomen & nowhere else on my body much at all, many years ago, after having gained several unwanted pounds & feeling/looking older than my years, I went through an intenstive esoteric training class lasting 9 months. It was supposed to give the student/practitioner a totally new " you " in a that 9 month gestation/birthing process and it DID!!! At the end of the 9 months I had lost tons of weight, looked 15 years younger & wore a bikini at age 45 for the first time ever in my whole life. I got compliments galore & new boyfriends coming out the woodwork as I was divorced at the time. And that was after my four kids were all grown & gone too. I was told I had the body of a teenager & I did!! Totally flat abdomen & all. For the first time since before I was married at age 20 or ever got pregnant. The program was heavy on diet (only vegetables & fruits & nothing else)...no breads, cakes, pastries, pies, no sweets, no sodas...just cooked, steamed or raw veggies & fruits for three months. That in itself did a huge amount of detoxing in my system & losing weight. Then I also did 2 hours a day of hatha yoga. Also an hour & a half a day of chanting & meditating. I also did other exercise like roller skating & using my back swing (inversion machine) which reduces the abdomen/waist just by hanging upside down for up to l/2 hour per day. I can't do many of any these exercise types of things anymore because of my spinal deterioration & the pain it causes. So I have to use only the diet now & it's not helping me as much as I can't stay on it...I crave " comfort foods " because I'm so lonely now anymore & isolated/cut off from old friends/family & my familiar community & resources. Including the support group for the esoteric 9 month experience program or the other people who did it. We all still need the support, the family, friends & social life. Otherwise we lose interest or caring about sticking to the other stuff much. But I know it can be done. It just takes knowing what to do & lots of daily self-discipline & support from regular " in-person " meetings with others doing the same thing. Online groups aren't the same type of support at all but are better than nothing, yes. The chanting/meditation/visualization actually takes off the weight & reduces inches too, believe it or not. So does Rebirth Breathing or Yoga Breathing. It's done by " sound " & " thought-forms " healing/balancing concentration techniques. And the breathing exercises oxygenate & thus detoxify the body/mind. Also self-hypnosis works. My experience with it anyway. Caroline What actually causes the Budda Belly?
