Guest guest
Hi there- Today is my 3 week anniversary from abdomonal surgery to remove 4 fibroids- one of which was pretty huge. I'm wondering if anyone who has gone through this, might share some of their recovery experiences with me as this is the first time I've ever had major surgery and it is taking longer for me to feel " normal " again then I had anticapted. I am 46 and aside from being overweight, was in pretty good health and very active before the surgery. Here are a few questions: 1) When does the swelling go away? My entire stomach feels swollen, just above the incision (which is at the bikini line). 2) How long before I will have my energy back? Yesterday I drove for the first time to the post office, blockbuster and the supermarket (for only a few things since I am not allowed to lift anything heavy yet). I came home and was exahusted and in pain (not terrible pain but certainly enough to be uncomfortable) and climbed into bed for the rest of the afternoon. I worry that the more I stay in bed, the more difficult it will be to finally gain my energy back. Any suggestions or hints about this? 3) When can I start to do some sort of workout program? Because I am not getting any exercise, although I am eating much less, I am not losing weight. Any ideas on this? Is it way too soon to start walking for longer periods of time yet? 4) Are there any other things anyone can share with me about what to expect during the next few weeks? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated Many thanks for your help here. Karyn in Miami
