Guest guest
Barbara, I agree about AG Bell, it is cost-prohibitive for many families. It is a shame because I have found it to be an incredibly valuable experience every time I've gone. There is so much to learn from the seminars, the exhibits and mostly the people you meet. If anyone is going, please contact me, I'd love to do a casual get-together. I have also heard good things about the Sturbridge conference, though I haven't been able to get to that one yet. For parents of children under 5 who have chosen oral language, the best workshop and value I know of is offered in St. Louis each summer by the Moog Center for Deaf Education. It is 4 days of programming for parents, teaching them how to teach their children to talk and also 4 days of lessons for the children with deaf educators. The fee is kept nominal and reasonable accommodations are available nearby. If anyone is interested in more information, please email me off list and I'll send you details. a (CI & HA), parent of , age 10 (CI & HA), 2 sons normal hearing, hubby HOH (2 HAs)
