Guest guest
I awoke this morning with another terrible headache ... I don't know which way to go regarding HA. Sometimes I'm pretty sure they are muscle-related, tension headaches, and sometimes I know they are sinus headaches. Other times I feel they may be something like a cluster headache ... I guess what I would like from you guys, is some advice on what to tell my doctor, or what type of HA you think this is...Any advice would be greatly appreciated! ... I would go to get a massage if I thought the results would last, but it seems to help only for awhile, and I can't really afford to go as much as I'd like to. Mike, any suggestions you may be able to give to me? ------------------------- As a matter of fact, I do have some suggestions for you. You don't really give enough detail on the symptoms for the one you are having today to get a good feel for what kind it might be, but your general assessment of different kinds at different times is undoubtedly correct. There are a few acupressure points that are very effective for headaches, regardless of the kind of headache. The type of headache determines which points you should use. Like I have said in the past, I averaged between 100-150 Aleve a month for 25-30 years for tension headaches. I have taken ZERO for headaches in the last 20 months. It is very rare anymore that I even get a headache, and when I do, it tends to be very mild and easy to get rid of within a couple of minutes using acupressure. Get your copy of Gach and go to page 104. There is a picture on the bottom of the page. The one on the left shows five points at the back of the neck. The points I used on myself to virtually cure my own tension headaches were the GB 20's and B 10's. If you have a sinus headache, refer instead to page 202 and use the B 2's, St 3's and LI 20's. For migraine or cluster headaches, I would use the GB 20's on page 104 in combination with two forehead points (GB 14)that Gach doesn't list. They are located directly above the center of the eye, one thumb's width above the eyebrow. There is a Polarity Therapy variation on this one that uses the palms of the hands instead of specific points. Simply hold the palm of the right hand at the base of the skull and the palm of the left hand across the forehead. I personally prefer using the points but either method should work. I have done a LOT of headache work (on myself and others) over the last year and a half and can generally bust a headache, regardless of type, within about 2-3 minutes using acupressure.
