Referred to a surgeon

Hi all,

I just got back from seeing my GP doctor. I had dislocated my left

shoulder on saturday, while sleeping. I woke up with it out and

reduced it and then went back to bed. This is the first time it

fully came out, normally it just subluxes. I wanted him to look at

it to make sure it was okay. He wants me to go see an orthopedic

surgeon, to have them make scar tissue so that it will be less

likely to dislocate. I am not too sure. I had surgery on my right

shoulder in 2000, but then I did not know about EDS. and the surgeon

who did it may have been a great surgeon but did not communicate

anything, I still do not know what he did to it. granted that my

right shoulder has been better since the surgery, unless doctors

play with it and get it close to dislocating. the surgery went fine

on my right shoulder, just had a problem with the pain drugs they

gave me, the pharmacy did not tell my mom that i needed to take food

with it and i overdosed and ended up in the hospital er.

I am just not sure if surgery is something I should do. On one hand

I think that it will help the pain and the dislocations, but on the

other hand what if it does not help, or if it makes it worse, or I

don't know!

I know most people here have had more surgeries than I have and just

wanted your opinions. Part of me is scared that if I have this

surgery then I will keep needing other surgeries, that may not be

the case but it is hard for me to be rational when my body is

falling apart. i am very confused! any advice or opinions would

really help!

thanks

take care all!
