Guest guest
ALA should be given every 3 hours, not every 4 hours (4 hours during the night might be alright). I tend to give it even more frequently during the day. Dagmar. [ ] Lower ala dosage? After doing 20 rounds of DMSA 12.5 mg every 4 hrs., 3 days on 4 off, my son was doing great. Even his teachers and therapists at preschool were amazed. Then 3 weeks ago we added ALA. It's Kirkman's DMSA Plus...12.5mg DMSA and 12.5 mg ALA. We were giving it every 4 hrs. 3 days on and 4 off. Initially, he became more emotional, he would cry easily. But he asked his first why question. But as time went on, he became very irritable, his teachers say he is not himself and needs help with things he didn't before and he's been throwing things all over the floor at school. My husband and I just figured it would pass and that his behavior was changing because the metals are moving out of his brain now. But it just kept getting worse. In fact, he was so sick looking and wiped out during this past round that we ended the round early on Sat. night. Then on Sunday he started acting more like himself again. And today, he is even acting more like himself. He even was excited to go to school today. Where as lately, he would say " NO! " when I would bring up school. So I am thinking that maybe the dose of ALA is too high for him. My question is would it still be effective if I give him 1/2 cap. every 4 hrs? That would be 6.25mg DMSA and 6.25 mg ALA. I know it was posted somewhere about dosing, but I wasn't sure because it was listed as " per kg of body weight " . I don't know the formula to convert kg to lbs. Thanks, =======================================================
Guest guest
Giving it more frequently is good to try, if that doesn't help lower the dosage of the ALA, but mainatin the dose of DMSA you've been giving. Slowly bring the dose up of ALA as he can tolerate it. You can cut the doseage easily by mixing it in an tart juice and then dosing from that. See the files section under dosages and it has lots of specifics on getting the caps into smaller amounts. Kim Re: [ ] Lower ala dosage? As someone else already said: ALA every THREE hours. Four hours is too long. That seems the most important thing to say. You could also consider yeast. I would think it normal to have SOME negatives when adding ALA (because you are pulling mercury from the brain)--- but you are correct that this should NOT keep getting worse. > In fact, he was so sick looking and > wiped out during this past round that we ended the round early on > Sat. night. > > Then on Sunday he started acting more like himself again. The combination of DMSA and ALA can really aggravate yeast. Try increasing your yeast protocol, see if that helps. > So I am thinking that maybe the dose of ALA is too high for him. > > My question is would it still be effective if I give him 1/2 cap. > every 4 hrs? That would be 6.25mg DMSA and 6.25 mg ALA. You can try this if you want. Dana
