Guest guest
Hi all- Recently dx. with Type 2. A bit of a surprise as I'm 40 years old and about 15 pounds overweight, but my fasting BG was 367 & Ac1 9.0 so there is no denying it! I went to a nutrionist and it helped to have a starting point, but she has me on alot of carbs. I am finding my body to be very sensitive to carbs and decided not to see her for now. I have decided to restrict my carbs and slowly add back what my body can tolerate. I am currently reading Dr. Bernstein's book. My AM fast numbers aren't great (150-170)-- not sure how to get them lower. I'm findng that if I eat mostly protein meals my numbers are under 130 which is very good for me (before they were 150-190). Exercise is a bonus, (brings my levels 77-130 post workout) but with a toddler and a husband who works a lot, it's hard to find time for myself. We are making adustments around here, but it's a process. I'm on Metformin, but had terrible reaction (diharrea, stomach cramps, queasy)so I'm now taking it just in the am and have been tolerating it much better. Doctor wants me to add it to pm. I also take Avandia-- not sure what that is doing, but my doctor seems to be a fan of it. Lastly, I am having a hard time losing weight... Not sure why because I don't eat more than 1,500 calories a day right now. I know I need to get more cardio in my schedule to get my thyroid active (I'm hypothyroid & on medication for that.) This has been a huge frustration!! Okay. One more thing. I have always been a night snacker. It's my reward for the day. Have not been snacking at night, but a hard time with that. I miss it. Thanks for any advice-- Mimi
