IM MAD!! (MRI Film) LONG!!

Hi All:

Man am I ever angry. I got my cine MRI done on the 3rd. I had it done at Loyola

University, against my better judgement, because it was the only hospital near

me that does them. (Northwestern and U of I are a ways a way in down town

chicago)

Now, I have always gotten my MRI films either the day I had them done, or within

2 days after. I have NEVER HAD TO PAY FOR THEM!!!!!! Because my doctors have

always wanted to see them for themselves, and then have given them to me. I

asked after the MRI when I could pick up the films and report......I have all of

the reports too...........and she said, oh you cant have them, we have a new

policy, it went into effect on July 1st (when I made the appt I WAS NOT TOLD

ABOUT THIS) you have to pay 5.00 a film!!!! I asked how many were there. She

said 20! I nearly blew a gasket! That comes to 100.00 that i do not have!

I told her that my doctor wanted to see them, and she says well, he is on staff

here, he can view them anytime...............And I said NO! he is NOT on staff

here! And he never has been on staff here. I said he was out of Ravenswood and

St Fransis, now he is out of Wiess and St Fransis!! She said if he wants to see

them then you have to pay the 100.00. I made it clear to her that my NS has no

faith in radiologists reading for our types of problems.

I have NEVER been charged for films before. So I made it clear to her that on

monday I would be calling the head of the MRI department, no peons below that

person, and he/she would be told that if these films are misread, which in cases

like ours happens a lot, and I have to undergo a spinal and/or icp monitoring

and it turns out that there was something obstructed or something that could

have been viewed all along on the MRI's, and they didnt find it, I was goning to

sue the pants off of that hospital for putting me through that kind of physical,

mental and emotional stress. I also said that I wouldnt care to get 1 red dime,

just being able to go public with their highway robbery will be thanks enough

for me...........Look out Walter son, I'm gonna be calling for you to

help!!!

So they had better make sure, that either 1. I get my MRI's for my NS who

SPECIALIZES in Chiari can read, or 2. they had better make DARN sure that

instead of a radiologist reading it that a NS who specializes in Chiari reads

it!!!

Has anyone in IL or anywhere else ever heard of anything so ridiculous? I mean i

am on the medical card, because we cannot afford medical insurance with Marc on

w/c and I have no choice. Where the HE$% would i get 100.00 for films from?!?!

Pull it out of the sky?!? Sorry to be going off like this, but I am so mad, that

I have been in tears all week for fear of having to undergo the more invasive

tests because of a possible screw up on their parts. Talk about the headache

from hell. I still havent gotten rid of it.
