Is this chelation process too agressive for an 18 mo old?

Hi All,

I'm very new to this so thanks for your patience.

My son is 18 months old and he has heavy metal toxicity results (from

hair analysis) as follows: Extremly high for Antimony. BOrderline

high range for arsenic, chromium, bismuth tungsten and tin. In the

middle range for vanadium, titanium and some aluminum. Mercury barely

showed up, but I realize it can come later. He is not vaccinated, but

I have a fair amount of amalgam in my mouth. I'm sure it will show

up later.

His stool cultures came back looking very good(thankfully). The only

issue was the sigA was very low.

Blood tests show all his minerals very low, especially zinc. Also,

RBC, HCT and HGB were on the low end.

The developmental pediatrician we see recommends the following

chelation process (she is DAN inclined and has a very established and

respected practice in a major metroplitan city):

For the first month he is to take:

Kirklands Spectrum complete- 1tsp

Kirklands Cal/mag- 1tsp

Kirklands zinc- 1tsp(at night)

Use glutathione cream 75 mg -2 times a day

Transfer Factor -1 capsule a day

metholated B-12 shot- 2 times a week

Probiotics

Omega 3

If levels are good then she gave us the choice to procede with TTFD or

DMSA. We wanted a very gentle chelation as he is so young and

incredibly sensitive, so she recommended the TTFD. From what I am

reading on the boards it seems as though TTFD is not used very often

and can even be harmful.

So, my questions are as follows....

1. Does anybody have experience with chelating such a young toddler?

2. Can a B-12 shot be harmful in any way. What if the body really

doesn't need it anyway? Is this a fairly new protocal?

3. TTFD or DMSA? PROS/CONS....recommendations.....etc.

4. Glutathione cream seems to be a little controversial as well. I am

having trouble finding info about it. Can this be harmful in any way?

5. Does this protocal seem a little harsh or ivestigational in any

way?

6. What about detoxing metals with homeopathy?

I realize this is a lengthy post, thank you so much for taking the

time to read it. I am open to any and all input, experience,

suggestions or comments.

Thank you,

Pamela

Hi Pamela,

I started chelating my son when he was 23 mo. I started supplements 2-

3 months before. It takes time to introduce them one by one and work

up to the target dosage.

I tried the glutathione cream and it was a disaster. My son got

really sick.

I did not try the B12 shots.

I did not try the transfert factor.

I bought the TTFD and ended up throwing it, I did not feel

confortable using it and it expired.

We did (and still do) multivit, multi minerals (especially selenium

and zinc), probiotics, anti-yeast, omega3, milk thistle, CoQ10

A couple of weeks before starting chelation, I also upped the basic:

vit C, E etc..

I started with 12 rounds of DMSA (4mg every 4 h) and then added ALA.

Today, after 50+ rounds my son has made a lot of progress (he was non-

verbal and is now no more speech delayed, he goes to a regular

preschool etc..). So I am glad I made these choices, but who knows

what would have happen otherwise...

Good luck,

Depends where you read whether it sounds common or uncommon.

Different doctors and different schools of thought.

Yea, it seems it can be harmful for some...

See

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/LOVE_LETTERS.html

look for the section on " Cantu " (child age 1)

and " Amy -- ALFawell@ " (child age 2)

and " Charlie -- .Hoover@ " (child age 2)

and " Diane -- ddudzik@ " (child age 2)

and " Kellie -- averyshope@ " (child age 2)

and " -- jonmahurin@ " (child age 2)

and " nne -- marib005@ " look carefully-- there is a

child age 2 and also another child or children

and " -- vannamom2001@ " (child age 2)

I would guess there are others, but this is what

I can locate info on, so I offer this.

It can be, although most ASD kids do need it.

(I don't know)

DMSA, and ALA but expect a variety of answers from different

sources.

ALL OF IT is controversial! Ack!

see:

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ANDY_INDEX.html#sulfur

Look for items about glutathione, or read whole section on

sulfur related issues.

yes, but depends what you are comparing it to....

like everything else, some think this works, and I'm sure

some have good results, but no results is more likely.

good wishes,

Consider removing sources of current exposures, especially antimony

This can cause problems for some kids unless given with folic acid.

> 1. Does anybody have experience with chelating such a young toddler?

My #4 was age 2-1/2 when I started her on ALA.

My #3 had major problems with oral B12 until I added folic acid.

> 3. TTFD or DMSA? PROS/CONS....recommendations.....etc.

I used ALA.
