His reasons are that I have nothing structually wrong with my heart and that my AFib is not bad enough to warrant it. He is treating me conservatively at the moment I guess until I get worse. I find it interesting that some EP's recommend ablation and others do not. The EP I visited in Sydney recently indicated that I would be suitable but put me off when he discussed the possible complications. Just thought I would let you know what has happen to me. I have written this before but will share again that my EP, who is relatively young, and well respected, and certainly aggressive medically when called for ... has told me an ablation " is not a party, " and prefers to treat afib conservatively. In fact, he was willing to do an electrical cardioversion on me despite the fact that I refused anti-arrhythmic drugs and preferred to stay on only beta blockers and a half a digoxin (250mcg). (My original cardiologist refused unless I went on Rhythmol before the cardioversion.) He did have me take two Rhythmol in the hospital directly after the cardioversion but that's it, and knock on wood it has held almost 3 months now, without antiarrhythmics - I just increased my magnesium from 500 to 750 mg a day. I think it really helps the pvc's. Afib is a strange malady. Some people never get worse. They get back into NSR and stay there. I realize they are the minority.
