Guest guest
Tom's of Maine has SLS, which I wouldn't want my child swallowing. Also, not all of their children's toothpastes are fluoride-free, so check. I was using OralB toddler gel, which is fluoride-free as well, not as sweet. > > > The Tom's of Maine toothpaste that was mentioned for you to try is now being > carried (at least at my local) at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Guest guest
The Tom's of Maine toothpaste that was mentioned for you to try is now being carried (at least at my local) at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. If your child won't use toothpaste, just water on the brush is fine. My son won't use it with all his sensory issues to taste. I am just excited now that he will sometimes try to brush his teeth. Last night he actually let me do it. April __________________________________________________
Guest guest
April, Thanks for this. I didn't think just plain water would do any good and we " fight " every time we have to brush his teeth. He has alot of sensory issues, but will let me brush his teeth, but fights about the toothpaste. I insist trying to care for his teeth, since we've already had so many problems. About a month after his 4th birthday, he started losing teeth and had lost 3 within 5 months and a 4th one by his 5th birthday. I took him to the dentist who agreed that children don't usually start losing teeth until about age 6 or 7. He told me his roots were dissolving, which from what I'm learning here, is possibly from Mercury. Guest guest
I have used Toms a lot too before.(Love the cinnamon) But recently I picked up Nature's Gate cherry flavor (hoping my fiance would use it) and Jimeny Cricket, it tastes almost like candy (none of that strong toothpasty taste) and you only need a tiny dab of it. This might also be a good one to try if your child does not like toothpaste. ~Inga ___________ on 9/26/04 5:00 AM, April, April Rosson, Rosson at veronicalee97@... wrote: The Tom's of Maine toothpaste that was mentioned for you to try is now being carried (at least at my local) at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Guest guest
I wasn't able to find the ingredients specifically for the toddler gel, but the Oral-B toothpastes for children contain artificial sweetener, colors, & flavors. The SLS in Tom's is derived from coconut oil & is a natural product. Although SLS may be a questionable ingredient, the artificial ingredients in the Oral-B products are far more offensive & toxic. -Sara.
