2. Radiation-induced malignancies - have been covered by Gareth , also

a study from Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto. There is definitely

increased concern for NF2 patients because of lose of tumor suppressor. But

I would imagine as radiation improves at least the numbers will reduce.

Also, there is concern about radiating young kids who may not see the results

for 20-30 years - and then are you substituting one problem for another? I

know it seems a long way away, but 20 years ago they were sure they'd cure

cancer by now. However, when there's no choice that's a different matter.

Finally, with kids, there's the concern about loss of cognitive function.

Not an easy decision for most, impossible for NF2ers.
