Guest guest
Hi, Crystal, Everything I've read about ginseng, is that it is support. It's like it feeds the adrenals. It doesn't suppress Them. Let me know if anyone has found differently in their reading. Also, the natural cortisol, like Cortef, IF YOU ARE TRULY DEFICIENT IN CORTISOL, is the safest way to go According to Dr. Jefferies, " Safe Uses of Cortisol " . He's been using it for over 50 years. Using it according To his protocol, 20 mg. a day, increasing for stresses, like illnesses etc., is quite affective and safe. The key Is if you are truly low. I've heard you can have antibodies that affect the adrenals. But you'd have to test for that. in Va. I'm sorry. I guess I made my email sound too casual. I do think you should go up on meds slowly. It has taken me from August to November to get up to 3 1/2 grains (actually took 4 grains for 3 days but decided to stay at 3 1/2 grains). I think one should go up more slowly once they've reached 2-3 grains. My body was screaming from lack of thyroid, it didn't hurt to go from 0-3 grains within 3 months. I also agree you should do the adrenal testing before jumping into cortisol. I do think people ought to test, not just with Dr. Rinds questionaire, but with saliva testing. This is very important. I'd think taking cortisol when your adrenals are properly functioning could send ones system into confusion. My test came back very, very low in cortisol at the different times. So, taking thryoid alone was not going to help me. I'm not taking adrenal support just for seratonin uptake! But that is one of the benefits from taking it. I'm also hoping that once I've reached my optimum and I'm not exhausted then I will be able to decrease the adrenal support, but probably won't be able to decrease the thyroid. I don't know about taking cortisol long term. Any opinions? In my 30's, I took the Triple Root Ginseng for 5 years. I was taking it because of post partum/ adrenal exhaustion. If there is a problem in taking adrenal support long term... perhaps that's why I crashed this summer... from going off the ginseng then when stress came into my life, my adrenals didn't know what to do because they were suppressed from me taking the Ginseng too many years. From what I've read, some think of taking adrenal meds to support their system while getting on Armour or while upping the meds... just to support the overall system. And you're right, others don't need adrenal support at all. But that's not me. Does having antibodies makes a difference in one having adrenal fatigue or adrenal exhaustion? Warmly, Crystal
