Guest guest
Welcome, Mel - Your symptoms sound a lot like mine, which are over 12 years old now...I hope you have found a rheumatologist by now with whom you have FAITH - ask EVERYONE you engage in chatting, etc., about MD's, as word of mouth will gain you much valuable information. If you have the money, I definitely recommend a good massage therapist. I only go for 1/2 hour, which takes care of whatever is bothering me that day (usually the back of the neck and armpit area). As for pain meds, I started " up the ladder " 11 years ago, so now I take morphine pills. I can't take anything with Tylenol, as that brings on restless limbs syndrome for me. Do you have RLS? Many good pain meds have Tylenol - Anyway, I use a low dose of an SSRI antidepressant called Effexor. Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant I use during flares - other m. r. have " wired " me, but Z. is okay! My other meds include Fiorinal, which is the best med for me for that nagging back of the skull pain, which is with me every day now for years. Great relief is found in lying on the floor with tennis balls - 2 inside one sock, and another 2 in another sock. Lie gently on both socks and slowly massage up & down your spine - I do this while watching Larry King, and I ALWAYS wind up falling asleep - it is a very relaxing self-accupressure technique which I think more folks should try! Til next time - Colette
