Guest guest Posted April 24, 2004 Report Share Posted April 24, 2004 Thanks, Yep, Tia made it. Of course I'm going to take a little credit here! lol My kids never had a "store bought" birthday cake. I learned to decorate cakes when I was about 14 & my mom took a Wilton course. She would come home & practice while I watched. She quit taking classes when I picked it up faster than she did. lol Unfortunately for me, my "punishment" was I soon was making cakes for all her friends parties! Oh well, I did get paid sometimes. It was really funny & still is a big joke. I made Tia's wedding cake, also. Oh, & she worked her way through her first 2 yrs. of college working in the bakery at the local Wal-Mart, making cakes. She really hates it now. lol She only did this as a treat for us. I still make all the kids & grandkids cakes, altho it is getting harder to do cause of the pain in my hands. Tia is in her last few weeks of classes at TN Wesleyan College. She will do her student teaching this fall & will be finished. She will graduate next May with majors in elementary education & English. Through it all she has worked, has a husband & a 3 yr. old son, keeps her house spotless & has a 3.5 GPA. She did take 1 semester off to work full time while her husband did his student teaching. Now he teaches high school algebra. She works at a pre-school with 2yr olds. now. I'm constantly amazed at this child! We are very proud of her. She also calls me at least once a day to check on us. Our other daughter who is just 15 mths younger lives 1 mile away, never calls unless she wants something & didn't bother to call or bring the kids by on my birthday. She's in the sh**house with her dad right now over that. Oh well, who can explain the differences in siblings? I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. Your daughter made that cake? It's beautiful!! It looks really tasty too! I could go for a piece that right now! And you and your husband are beautiful too.
