Guest guest
Hello, Im scheduled for a left BHR in March. 42 year old male, laborer and powerlifter relagated to only bench press for the past few years. Is anyone out there pursuing bodybuilding or strength training goals on their resurfaced hardware? Heavy flat-out squatting notwithstanding, Id like to charge the mid-body/leg muscles up again, theyre still there, just not used much in the past 5 years. Some docs indicate that muscle mass helps " hold you together " further reducing the dislocation risk which resurfing already addresses. I know of a bodybuilder who recently squatted 500 lbs on his THR. Not sure if thats foolishness or the shape of things to come (if he has a plastic cup i think he risks wearing it out). I dont need big singles, but my body may easily ask for 300 lbs/hi rep squats once things get going, is anyone else doing that? Maybe I should forget it and just do stairs and hike! I can accept that, but dont want to leave cards on the table. I have to do some heavy lifting just to get a days work done. We all want to get ours lives back. Ive got a lot of bone in the femur neck area, which is a good start, I guess. Relief from the pain will be a blessing in itself but like a lot of people Im looking for the most from this. The Fall 2003 months were pretty depressing when faced with the local docs small ball/plastic THR and prognosis of limitation and caution. From what Ive heard some hard work will be OK once the cup is grown in well. Just looking for relevant experiences. Itll be great to see other Yanks in Ghent! Anyone intent on sampling the Belgian beer? BO.
