Guest guest
As nice as the Iowa City RMD house is, I will add this for people who have not stayed t here before, and it's just my two cents worth but here goes: If you are only staying for one night it's almost not worth it. Sure it's only $15 a night, but there is a lot of time involved in the registration, parking permit, key deposit, the tours, getting the speech about the rules of conduct, etc. and if you've driven very far with a child you're probably just ready to flop in a bed and stop vibrating a while instead of going through all that. Then in the morning you have to clean your bathroom, strip you bed, put on the clean sheets, make sure it's all spotless for the next resident, wash any dishes you used for breakfast, tidy your kitchen....... and sometimes that's a lot to manage if you're on your way to an early appt. so you can drive home right after the dr. visit. For us, traveling with two kids we find it easier to spend $40 on a sleep cheap motel that we can just get up and leave from in the morning....no washing or cleaning, the kids have a TV to watch cartoons while we get our showers and load up the car(there's no T V in the RMD house rooms) then we, grab a fast breakfast from Burger King or where ever so there's no kitchen duty...., hit the doctor, then hit the road home. Just something to consider for new people going to Iowa. For longer stays I cannot say enough about the BENEFITS of the RMD house, but for over nighters......we opts to do the less fuss approach to the trip. The extra $45 we spend is worth it for the convienience. s. Re: Visit to Dr. Ponseti - Need Information-Urgent Heidi- You may have already gotten this info from someone else. We drove to Iowa from Ohio so we don't have any experience with any of the airports. We did stay at the RMH 5 out of the 6 times we have been there. The number for the RMH is . They can't guarantee a room but you will be put on the waiting list and if there is a room open its yours. It they don't have a room for you at the RMH, they will give you a voucher for one of the local motels. The voucher gets you a discounted rate. We stayed at the Red Roof Inn the one time we weren't able to stay at the RMH. Sometimes they have vouchers for the Holiday Inn and maybe one other area motel. There is a shuttle from the RMH to the clinic and I believe that there might be one from the Red Roof Inn as well. I'm not sure because we had our car and didn't need any transportation. We took our portable crib (Pack n Play) with us to use at the RMH. They have them available though if you need one. All the linens (towels, sheets, etc) are provided. We used their baby tub to set in to soften her casts before her appointments. Best of Luck with your appointment. It will at least give you some peace of mind to get Dr. Ponseti's opinion in person. Let me know if you have any more questions. Be sure to give us an update. So i will go to Dr. ponseti to finalize this debate. Could anyone tell me how to schedule an appointement. I am new here in the united states so when i searched for tickets, i found a lot of chcago airports, so could anyone tell me which Chicago airport i should arrive at to reserve the ticket and also how to reserve aa room at Mcdonalds place and if there is no availability which hotel is near to his Hospital. What should i take with me in case i stayed at mcdonalds. I am so confused so could anyone give me enough information if he has gone this trip before.
