Ilizarov brace/Limb lengthening

I just read several digests, so I'm not sure who was asking about limb

lengthening for their child with a 1 inch difference in leg length. I can't

be of help to and Colin, but I can give some impressions about the

limb lengthening from our experiences going to Dr. Herzenberg's office.

There are lots of patients of all ages waiting with their Ilizarov

contraptions on. They're huge and look very painful! There are posters of

results of studies conducted on various aspects of the Ilizarov method. And

books of articles in the exam rooms which I read if Zoe's occupied with her

toys. One article that stands out is the person who was able to grow his

bone 8 inches in the matter of a year or two!

As someone mentioned previously, Dr. Herzenberg is the foremost authority on

limb lengthening like Dr. Ponseti is the foremost authority on the Ponseti

method for clubfoot. I have spoken to people in the waiting room who have

traveled from as far away as Florida and California to receive limb

lengthening treatment from him.

If you do a google search, you'll probably find a support group like this

one for limb lengthening...
