Guest guest
Thanks all for your responses. I thought it was insensitive of Dr Byers to say that to . He did know about her OCD. She doesn't say much about it, but I catch her staring into the mirror often. She's been talking about and watching a lot of cosmetic surgery shows on tv. I don't know how I'm gonna get her mind off it, cause all the compliments in the world from your mom don't really mean a thing. On the flip side, saw her hemetologist/oncologist yesterday. He is a great doctor. When he talks, everyone around him jumps. He seems to be the " big man " on campus at our health care clinic. He even got out a book to explain things to us - which really impressed me. So many doctors don't want to show that they might not know every little thing. Turns out has the CMV virus, not Epsien Barr, and it's petering out now. Her potassium has gone up a few tenths, so she still has to work on that. He checked her urine, and it's full of puss and red and white blood cells. She isn't having any symptoms of an infection now. So, he's doing another culture to find out what to do. He says to his nurse - " Get Dr. D ('s GP) on the phone! " And he talked to her for about 5 minutes. He said the antibiotics they've given her in the past have probably just covered up the bad symptoms enough, and never really cured the infection. She has always been given a 3 day course of septra. The dr said that dr's are always saying not to give teenage girls a 10 day course of antibiotics because of the risk of yeast infection. Then he said " We can cure a " GD " yeast infection! " He actually cussed! I thought it was great!!!!! Her immune system is working perfectly. Antibodies all ok. Her metabolism is working perfectly. It's just this pesky UTI problem we have to figure out. She may have to have a test where they put a camera in to look at her bladder from the inside. We have to go back to the urologist. She gain a whole 6/10th of a pound! WOW! This doctor is so wonderful, he talked with about her weight. Since she's almost 5' 8 " , and only weighs 101, he knows how this can be a problem. People who don't know make comments about anorexia, and she gets stares when we go out shopping and so on. The dr sat down and looked her in the eye, and said - " You have beautiful eyes. You have beautiful hair. You are obviously a lovely young woman. Don't listen to what ignorant people say, and get working on your modeling contract. And then, come back and bring me a signed photo so I can say I knew you when. " So, the best words from an oncologist he said next - " I'm not scheduling you for a follow up with me. You are fine. Just get your potassium up, and give yourself some time, and the fatigue will go away. " Whew! I've never been to a doctor who did things so fast and so acurate. Boy, you go to an oncologist, and they get things done! I can't say enough about him. There he is, in his birkenstocks and fishing vest, looking like a regular guy. Acting like a regular guy. Not afraid to say he doesn't know everything about her virus so he gets the book out and explains it all to her. It was a perfect dr/patient experience. It all really made feel good. Not just knowing that she's not terrible sick, but the compliments he gave her are an huge emotional boost. She has thought about modeling on and off over the last few years. And so has . But, that profession can be scary, and not so good for a young girl's perspective on things. So, I suppose I've bragged about my beautiful daughters long enough! haha Maybe I should tell you how incredibly handsome my son is! hahahahahahha!!!!!! What a dork, I am! Anyway, things are looking up for us. Everyone is relatively healthy for now. Hope you all are feeling ok. Hugs,
