Guest guest
, My leader will allow us to set small goals instead of choosing that big goal. So when you reach 10%, you could say...I want to choose another 10% instead of saying I want to get to 145 or whatever in the end. I am not sure if all leaders allow this or not, but you might want to ask, that way you won't have to think about the final number until you get closer to it. Also, if you talk to your dr and he says that you should be ___, then all you need to do is have him write a note and give that to your leader and that will be your goal amount. Maureen choosing a goal weight Hi ~ I'm just a few pounds from my 10% goal, and I'm wondering, is that when I choose a goal weight? I think it says to schedule a weight conference with my leader. What is a weight conference? I'm assuming that's where I would set my goal. That leads to my next question...how do you determine your " ideal weight " ? I'm scared of setting it too low and never getting there. I'm not really scared of setting it too high (I'd rather do that than set it too low!) The lowest weight I've ever reached was 145. I'm 5'6 " , pear-shaped, average build. I've also had 5 children which included a set of twins. I tried and tried to get below 145. I was working out 6 days a week and training for an event, so I was getting a TON of exercise...but my weight would go down to 143, then jump back up to 145. Down to 143, up to 145. Nothing I did seemed to budge me off of 145 for more than a day or two. So, does my body just *like* that weight? Because I'm thinking I'll set it as my goal, but I don't know. Guest guest
You don't usually set a goal weight till you are within a few pounds of the top of your range. Being 5'6 your range is 124 to 155. You can set your goal at the top or anywhere in between. You can only set it above the top of your weight range if you have a note from you doctor. My leader didn't really have " conference " with me she just noticed I was getting close to the top of my range and asked if I wanted to set my goal at 132. Personally I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to set their goal at the highest possible number since it means you will stop paying for meetings sooner. Even if you go lower there is no point paying for meetings when you can attend for free. Guest guest
Is there a reason to go below 145? I've seen women who are in AMAZING shape who weigh 155 pounds. At 150 pounds I wear smaller sizes then I did when I was 135 because at 150 I am muscular. When I hit my 10% my leader did the " conference " with me. She simply showed me what was recommended, suggested I state the high end as my goal, and let me make the decision. I decided not to take the high end because I was afraid I would stop at that point and just be happy with it. I like the suggestion of the mini goals, like after your first 10%, shoot for another 10% or whatever goal makes sense. That first 10% was such a big deal for me, and I don't know why, except I really like my key chain and it reminds me of the hard work it took to get to that 10%. Congratulations on almost reaching your 10%. with twins and other children, you have really worked hard. Guest guest
There's no real reason to go below 145...other than I just wanted to (back then) because I still thought I was fat at 145. :-( How sad, huh? But my self-image has been healing over the past two years and I think this time, I will not see a fat woman when I look in the mirror and I weigh 145. Like you, I worried about setting my goal too high, worried that I would settle for that. But Kris made a good point about not having to pay for meetings! Intriguing thoughts on all of this! Thanks! in CO choosing a goal weight Hi ~ I'm just a few pounds from my 10% goal, and I'm wondering, is that when I choose a goal weight?
