Guest guest
Hi All, I wanted to thank you all for your kind thoughts following my last post. You may recall that my mom was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ in her left breast; some atypical tissue was also discovered on the right side. Her lumpectomy (or, rather, lumpectomies!) took place a little over 2 weeks ago, and I had many questions for you following a somewhat bewildering post-surgery chat with her surgeon. In retrospect, it does seem that he simply gave us his standard talk with *every* possible scenario... The pathology report revealed clear margins and no other surprises, so we feel very fortunate. The plan is 6 weeks of radiation, and likely Tamoxifen, and then a follow up in 6 months. My mom was home making potato salad literally 3 hours after getting out of surgery (yes, really), and is back at work and back to all her other usual antics. Thanks again for your support and kind words. I am sure we will have more questions down the road. Belma
