Guest guest
Dear a, I had this wonderful, six paragraph response to some of your concerns and then I hit the wrong button!! Let me see if I can send you (and remember) a shorter version. I feel what you're saying about post-BC and specific support geared toward us. You also have issues about younger as well as health- consceious women. Although you may not find resources/groups specifically tailored to all three areas, maybe even finding a group with (1) issue of importance to you will help you. It is disheartning to read all the new member posts lately. Is it me, or have we increased in size like " three-fold? " Every new member is a voice here, although in the beginning of diagnosis it is an apprehensive one, filled with fear and overwhelmed. Then there are the " treatment " voices - becoming alittle more self-assured of their treatment plans and discovering although difficult, it can be done. Then there are the post-BC women; a group filled with wisdom, love and understanding about what BC means and wear scars to remind them daily of the bravery they have shone themselves and everyone around them. I understand totally what you mean about the issues of being a post- BC patient, feeling like they've taken off our " training wheels, " and we're left tettering on the cliff between sick and well. I also understand your feeling of healthy living and what you can achieve going forward armed with proper nutrition, supplements and exercise. My son has practiced living an organic vegan lifestyle (about 4 years now), and I applaud him for his ability to remain dedicated to his stringent beliefs in food and our bodies. He has given me many hours of patient advice on the do's and don'ts of food. There are some amazing books out there that may be of interest to you. One, " Waking the Warrier Goddess, " I found to bring me a greater sense of empowerment over myself and my body. I believe natural and traditional medical treatments should compliment each other, and some day hope to see these two bring us better success before, during and after treatment. I don't believe there is one recipe for health; I believe it will be a combination of these things that will bring up our success rates and lower our diagnosis rate to begin with. I will " scour " the internet, looking for some type of group that would compliment your thinking and I really appreciate your thoughts and value your opinion. Hey, who knows, maybe you and I can begin a group for Post-BC Healthy Living! I find the best thing for my " soul " is by my sharing through posting, hand-holding and advice to all BC patients across the map.
