Guest guest
Hi everyone, hope all of ya'll had a great Thanksgiving. I for one had a wonderful one. My sister's house was destroyed by a tornado Tues evening. In fact her whole subdivision was wiped out. Luckily, her family is fine. Her twin daughters aged 6 didn't get a scratch. We have spent the last couple of days trying to salvage what clothes etc...we can. But, the whole neighborhood has been declared a disaster. They only had one death. There could have been so many more. I will always remember this Thanksgiving, standing on the street while people volunteered their time and energy to help clear trees and debris. I saw what Thanksgiving really means....people helping total strangers. Checking on ole folks who wouldn't leave what little house they had left. I actually felt proud to be a part of it. We shared what turkey dinner we did have with the folks across the street. They are very old and have no children....only one little dog. They had no hot food, hot water or electricity, but couldn't be convinced to leave their house. Several of the men climbed up on the roof and put plastic on the ceiling to keep any rain out. We will continue to check on them and make them as comfortable as possible. I am very thankful this Thanksgiving. Guest guest
Wow Donna. Thank you so much for sharing that story. It really puts into perspective truly what the holiday is about. While we enjoy all the trimmings, it isn't about the food or the things, it's about people and love and sharing.
