Deep Tissue Massage

Twice I have gone into a terrible episode of AF because of a deep

tissue massage. Regular massage is fine, but deep tissue really sets

me off. I had a deep tissue massage on Monday and have been " fragile " ,

and in and out of AF all week. Has anyone else experienced this? Do

you know why it happens?

Thanks.

Several years back, I remember asking my physician if it was OK to get a

massage. His reply was " any massage except deep tissue " . He explained that it

could bring on AFib and also could possibly cause bruising and bleeding because

of the Coumadin.

Hmm, I wonder why a massage would cause afib. I've gone into it from

antibiotics, alcohol, chewing on an ice cube <maybe>. I've had

several massages for some low back and also neck pain and it never

triggered afib...yet.

Did the doctor say why that would cause afib?
