Guest guest
No I said that the pain from the swelling of the muscles around the ribs hurt 10 times worse than pleurisy, but I have no clue what it is that Lyn has. She needs to not worry about going to her doctor when she is in pain. A doctor that understands Fibro will understand that she will need to see him a lot for pain issues that come up until they are able to get it under control with meds. LYN: Give the doc a call tell him you need an appointment. Some doctors leave time in their schedule to see people that need to see him right away. I would not wait, Call him first thing in the morning and get them to work you in. No one should have to live with that pain. Joan
Guest guest
Is this pleurisy? I have had this a couple of times and it is very painful. Sincerely, Pamela Rauch Re:*****LYN*****Throat spasms Lyn: About 2 years ago I got this pain in my chest, I could have sworn I was having a heart attack. My chest wall hurt like hell and I could hardly breath. I did go to the doctor and he told me that it was all part of the fibro. He told me that I had severe swelling of the muscles around the rib cage. That is why it felt like my heart. I had forgotten about that pain until you brought it up. I have had it 2 or 3 more times since then and each time because it caused such pain and I felt like I could not breath he put me on prednisone. (sp?) My doc rarely puts me on the steroids but he felt like it would be most effective for the level of pain I was in. (he also gave me pain killers as well) He put me on a course of 5 for 5 days 4 for 4 days 3 for 3 and so on. It improved a great deal in about 3 days and was gone when I was on my 2 day cycle. You have to finish those meds, I am not sure why I was just told it was a really bad thing to just stop taking them when you feel better. If anyone has ever had pleurisy you know that pain... well multiply that pain by 10 and this is the pain lyn is talking about. Talk to your doctor, it will not go away very fast on its own, and I know how bad that pain can feel. It seems even worse added with the breathing problem. It hurts when you move and there is no way not to move your rib cage, hell you have to breath! Joan
