Guest guest
Steve, I haven't worked up the courage to try the adrenal cortex with my son yet, but I'm curious about what indications your son displayed regarding adrenal stress. My son's int ital hair test had a potassium level of 710 ( ref range was 12-40), Since then we have chelated with ALA only and his potassium levels came down to 350, which is still way beyond the ref, range. Did you see anything similar to these results? Thanks for sharing your experience......Bill steve_rotherham <steve.rotherham@...> wrote: > Hi Steve, > > How did you use this? I gave adrenal cortex with meals twice a day iniitally, only once day now unless he is having a bad day. I give pantethine a coupe of times day, sometimes more before, during and after chelation. I give ashwaganda/withania and licorice twice a day as part of a herbal preapration I have mixed by a herbalist I trust using herbs approved as being uncontaminated (very important). We use sea salt liberally with my son's meals and give extra with water during and immediately after chealtion and on hot or esp. humid days. Chelation has not made adrenal support unnecessary. I just completed round 24 of chelation (this one was ALA only, but we have also done DMSA only, plus DMSA/ALA plus DMSA/EDTA) and I was a bit slack on extra adrenal supplementation and got a classic adrenal meltdown at roughly 5pm on the 3rd day. Luckliy I had received good advice on this in the past (thanks Andy), supplemented with my own research, and knew what to do. Within 20 minuts of getting the relevant supps (all adrenal supps I have mentioned, plus any calming supps I could think of) my son calmed down and went on to have an excellent evening. I think we will get over the adrenal problems eventually, but it will take more chelation and a serious assault on vial problems. I hope to have something positive to report by Feb/March next year The adrenal problems did get worse with chealtion initially until I posted on the list and got some good advice, which was: use the supps I have mentioned, and reduce the time between doses. We now give ALA every 2 to 2.5 hours during the day and every 2 hours 45 minutes overnight. It makes a difference. If you find a compressed schedule tough, then chelate half as often. You'll still get better results. Good luck Steve =======================================================

Adrenal problems show up in my son as aggression or striking out, losing temper over trivial things, loss of frustration tolerance, tearyness or inability to cope with small things, and inability to modulate emotions/excitement even more than usual. He is at his worst late in the day. At one stage we got meltdowns about 5pm every day. ALA worsens adreanl problems. Owens says B5, biotin and ALA compete for the same pathways, so it seems to inhibit B5 absorption. During chealtion and afterwards we give extra pantethine and this helps a lot. > My son's int ital hair test had a potassium level of 710 ( ref range was 12-40), Since then we have chelated with ALA only and his potassium levels came down to 350, which is still way beyond the ref, range. Guest guest
Steve: Probably you answered this before, but what brand of adrenal cortex do you use? Guest guest
Steve, When you mentioned increasing the frequency of chelation doses to alleviate adrenal problems, did you reduce quantities in each dose to give same overall amount over the round, or did you have same dose strength and end up giving more chelators over the period ? I have just started my son on Thorne " Cortrex " . Am looking for the effects (good or bad) which may result. My feeling is these will probably be gradual increase in stress tolerance and fewer meltdowns but that it may take a month or two to make the judgement. Is this a realistic timescale in your experience ? Did you see immediate and/or dramatic changes,or gradual changes over time ? Thanks for sharing your experiences on this.
