Guest guest
Hey all I was feeling pretty good when I got up this morning. After church and Sunday School we went to my brothers church where they were having a BBQ. He had invited us so we thought why not. It wasn;t hot. Our high was less than 80 today and noon might have been 70. I was out in the actual sunshine for maybe 20 minutes. I was sitting in the sun cause the shade with the breeze was so cold to me I was shivering. I do think the sun was a mistake. My face is bloated and whelpy. I am intensely itchy. However that could be a medication reaction. Today is day 5 or 6 on some new pain meds so the itching could be that especially since it did not start until about an hour after taking the meds tonight. I went home from BBQ and went straight to bed for 2 hours. I am still dragging. Is that a common or should I say normal reaction to being in the sun. I never paid a lot of attention to things of this nature before other than I looked like a lobster after being in the sun a few minutes. Have a great evening Ruth in CA

Ruth and all, I think the sun can outwardly affect each of us differently, but it sounds like you're right to question whether your reaction is to the sun or your meds. Keep tabs on how you're feeling and call your doctor if anything persists. As hard as it is, we lupies never know what sun exposure will do to us internally, even if we don't think we're sun sensitive or if we've "limited" exposure to a few minutes. Sigh. It's one of the hardest things to being a lupie, but one of the most important, too. I usually decline outdoor activities even if I can sit in the shade. I try to make up for it by being present at indoor activities more regularly. Hope you all have good weeks!
