Guest guest
$200 sounds terribly high! Last I looked they were around $70....but that did not include the cost of a bar. I got a lesson on measuring the bar today; Dr. Ponseti told me to measure from the CENTER of the heel to the center of the other heel. I had set my bar by exterior heel to heel and it was an inch too long. s. Re: HELP -- new to shoes and DBB - Kori Well, just to let you know that I went back to the orthotist to return the old shoes, and went armed with pictures off the Markell internet site, and insisted that she give me the newest style shoe. I also got her to order me an adjustable bar, that way I can be sure to get the right size. She was rather rude about it all, but did call Markell and order the right stuff!, as they did not have them in stock (Obviously they only have old stock, and were trying to get rid of it to someone who hopefully didn't know anything about it!!!!) The shoes had cost me $200.00. Does that sound right? Also when measuring the shoes against the shoulders, should the shoulders fit between the shoes, or what?? I'm confused on that one. frogabog frogabog@...> wrote: , he's 2mo's old? A 9 " bar seems like it might too long, but maybe he's just a big guy. Darbi was big, but she started out with a 6 " bar IIRC and stayed in it for a long time. (ok, might have been an 8 " , now I gotta go check cuz my mama brain forgot!) There's an easy way to know though. Have you put the shoes on and compared it to his shoulders? Just put it up and see how it fits. Put the shoes on at 70 degrees first though and then put the heels right up to his shoulders in the back and check. Are these shoes open toe? I think the strap holds the heel down better than just the laces themselves, which is why they're made that way now. I would be concerned that you will have a hard time getting them tight enough. Can you send a pic to the CFPics list of these shoes? I'm just curious. I think if it were me, that I'd call the brace shop and tell them that there's been shoes out for this method for years that have straps and buckles and even a new improved design out that are designed not to not need plastizode inserts since last October. And what are they doing giving you old stock shoes without buckles for anyway? Sounds like they found a good way to get rid of something sitting on the shelf. How much did you pay for these shoes?
