Guest guest
Morten, I am not sure what your doctor is referring to? Was it an AFO? If so, they do not hold correction and are not needed. If your son has been wearing the DBB for 23 hours/day for 3 months it is time for him to go down to 16-18 hours/day. He does not need to wear anything special in his 6-8 hours out of the brace. Our dr. was prescribing 23 hours/day until Zoe walked, so I wrote to dr. P and here is what he said about brace wear. Quote May 28, 2004 We have observed that after three months of full time brace wear, night and naptime for a total of 16-18 hours are sufficient to prevent a relapse. Once the child is walking about 12-14 hours is adequate. I see no reason to have the child wear the brace 23 hours a day until she is crawling. Straight last shoes are usually more comfortable and are adequate to maintain the correction. Reverse last shoes are not necessary. I.V. Ponseti, M.D. Unquote Hope this helps. Guest guest
Morten, Collin wears a reverse last boot on his right clubfoot and a straight last boot on his left non clubfoot. I'm not sure if I still has his x-mas photo of him sitting in a sleigh on our photo page or not, but I know he was wearing a pair of them in the photo. Our website is http://www.geociteis.com/chele323232 it would be on the photo's tab and the top left photo. I did do some cleaning up on the website and I'm not sure if I deleted that photo or not. We just moved and I'm planning to update the website this Fall once I get our scanner hooked up so I started to get rid of things. The shoes just look like normal little boots. Collin does not have a problem with them at all. I think you can goto the Markell website to look for photos too most likely. Collin has white now but he has had a tan and brown in the past (I liked them better but didn't have a choice this time) It is hard to get the insurance company to pay for them but in the long run after many battles and tears we did.
